Do I Need a Professional Photographer?

You have traveled all this way to the most gorgeous place on Earth... Maui, Hawaii! The scenery is breathtaking... the memories are forever... What will you take home with you that captures the essence and emotion and the memories of this, your most special day? Pictures!

Some wedding couples choose to have friends or relatives shoot their photos, and this can lead to big disappointment. As much as you cherish your family and friends, they may not have the expertise to know how to shoot quality photos. They will not be familiar with each wedding site, and its challenges and special angles needed to get great memorable pictures! They may not know how backlighting from a beautiful sunset can all but ruin your most perfect wedding photo if not taken properly with fill flash. They may not realize that the angle they choose to shoot your ceremony may not be the most pleasing or have the best background. After all, they are not professional photographers.

Maui photographers are very experienced with all of the wedding venues here on the Valley Isle, such as churches, beaches, hotel lawns and gazebos, waterfalls, private estates and ocean cliffs. In most cases, they have plenty of experience with each wedding site. They know the best angles for the best backgrounds, they know how the light is going to affect the shot, and how that light changes from morning to afternoon to sunset. Because they have done many weddings in each venue, they know exactly how to achieve the best, most spectacular wedding photo memories.

Maui photographers are educated and experienced in their craft and work in their field everyday. Weddings on Maui just don't happen on the weekends, like many parts of the mainland USA, rather, Maui wedding professionals work seven days a week, as everyone who comes here to get married is on vacation and can pick any day their desire to tie the knot! The fact that we can work so much is what keeps prices lower than mainland wedding photographers. By coming to Maui, you are getting a great deal and a great value for your dollar!

So, as you book your wedding and put together all the details, remember that your memories are so very important. Trust them to a professional. You can find a photo package for any budget, and you will be so glad that when you return home, you have great, eye-popping photos to show your family and friends!

Stylistic Trends In Wedding Photography

When thinking about your wedding photography, there is much more to consider than simply what photos you want to have taken. First, and most important, you have to select the right photographer for the job. One factor that should influence your selection is STYLE-both yours and the photographer's. It is important to work with someone who has a style and sensibility complimentary to your own.

Wedding photography today is not like it used to be; gone are the days of an all posed album. A less posed, photojournalistic style of photography is becoming more and more popular. Couples seem to like a candid style with a minimum of posed shots in their album. There are photographers who specialize in this emerging trend, just as there are photographers who remain true to the posed shot tradition. As well, many couples today like to have a mix of both posed and unposed pictures. If this is your goal, be sure your potential photographer is adept at both styles.

Stewart Pinsky Photography Another stylistic trend in wedding photography is the color or LACK thereof. Many couples today are turning to black and white photography which lends an air of timelessness to their wedding album. Though B&W photos have a unique feel to them, they also have their limits. Brides often painstakingly plan color schemes for their weddings which are obviously lost on B&W film.Because of this, many couples have some photos taken in B&W and some taken in color, making their album a nice combination of the classic and the contemporary.

Your wedding photos are a once in a lifetime opportunity. Make sure you know who you are placing your trust in.

The Incredible Scenery Of Maui

My first instinct is to begin posting all of the amazingly beautiful and breathtaking pictures of Maui on this page... but I have already done that... throughout ALL of these Maui Wedding Planner pages! The truth is, it is very hard to turn a camera in any direction without getting an incredible shot! First, the sun shines almost everyday. And when it does rain, it is usually occasional and short. As the saying goes here on Maui, "Don't judge the weather by what it is right now, for in ten minutes, it will be different!"

As you can see from all of the photos gracing the top of each page, Maui has endless vistas and scenes, all very different from each other. Maui's climate changes about every ten or twenty miles it seems, from the "upcountry" which resembles more of a California climate, to Hana (tropical), to Kihei (warm and dry), to Lahaina (hot and humid) and much, much more. Each area has breathtaking scenes. Most important tip? Bring lots of film!!
